Two Imari dishes
Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
A chrysanthemum-shaped saucer-dish painted in various coloured enamels and gilt on underglaze blue with a central kiku below branches of pine, bamboo and exotic flowers issuing from rockwork (small rim restorations), 33.3 cm. diam.; and an octafoil dish with a large central medallion enclosing a chrysanthemum spray within lotus scrollwork below four alternate panels of peony and chrysanthemum in a vase, reserved on a washed-blue diaper-pattern ground, 31.5 cm. diam.
