A pair of Imari bowls
Edo Period (circa 1700)
Painted in various coloured enamels and gilt on underglaze blue, the octagonal sides with shaped panels reserved on a blue ground with pairs of quails amidst exotic plants, divided by two scale-pattern roundels, the interior with a flower basket below a border of stylised peach at the rim (some rubbing to the gilt)
