An Imari vase and cover
Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
Of baluster shape, decorated with shaped panels in various coloured enamels on an overall design of scrolling foliage and flowers in underglaze blue, the variously shaped panels enclosing plum blossom, phoenix, peony or a pavilion under a pine tree, the shoulder with alternate cartouches of peony and a song-bird perched on a branch, the cover mounted with a lacquered figure of a bijin (cover restored)
