For a virtually identical dish in the Kyushu Ceramic Museum see Higo no iro-e 'sono hajimari to hensen' ten/Polychrome porcelain in Hizen--its early type and change of style--special exhibition 1991, exh. cat. (Arita: Kyushu Ceramic Museum, 1991), pl. 151. For another dish see John Ayers, Japanese Ceramics, The Baur Collection, Geneva (Geneva: Collections Baur, 1982), pl. E-25. Ayers characterizes the dish as late 17th-century Kakiemon-style and cites a related dish in Imari-style colors in the 18th century collection of Augustus II (see Friedrich Reichel, Early Japanese Porcelain: Arita Porcelain in the Dresden Collection [London: Orbis Publishing, Ltd., 1980], pl. 72).
