Designed as a horizontal, conceptual map of Japan bordered by labelled islands and sections of four other countries, the Land of the Dwarves, the Land of Women, the Ryukyu Kingdom and Korea, surrounded by seas and the ocean drawn with scalloped waves in underglaze-blue, the inscriptions also cobalt blue under the transparent glaze
