Arita Ware, Kakiemon Type, Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
With pear-form body and tapered neck moulded in eight facets and decorated in polychrome enamels over transparent glaze, on one side across four facets with flowering plum and bamboo and on the opposite side across two facets with a bird flying over a clump of rock and young bamboo, the neck painted in enamels of red and blue with suspended garlands of flowerheads and foliage connected by oval links, flat base unglazed
