An Earthenware Vase
Meiji Period (Late 19th Century), Gilt Mark Kozan Zo
Decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with folding fans painted with animals and flowers, the surrounding area decorated with gilt foliate sprays on a ground of red enamel and gilded paulownia scroll, the base of the neck decorated with Taoist 'precious emblems' on a foliate ground and the neck with bands of flower chevrons and foliage, the foot with a similar band of formal foliate sprays
