A Small Earthenware Incense Burner (Koro)
Taisho Period (Early 20th Century), Blue Enamel Shimazu Crest
Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with a pair of Chinese lions and their young, one of the adults holding a spray of peony in its mouth, the shoulder enameled with numerous scroll-shaped floral reserves, a blue enamel Shimazu crest on each of the feet, the metal cover pierced in the shape of Daikoku's mallet
