Cast in sections in bronze with a golden brown patina and standing on three phoenix legs atop a separately cast plinth decorated with butterflies and foliate sprays in soft-metal inlay, the foot inlaid with a band of soft-metal lappets, the bowl decorated with sparrows and blossoms, and a phoenix in paulownia, all cast in low relief and inlaid in soft-metals above an inlaid geometric band, the neck with two clusters of floral sprays separated by two handles cast as long-tongued beasts, and the rim of the mouth inlaid with a band of keyfrets in soft-metal
