Illustrations of the botany of Captain Cook's voyage round the world... With determinations by James Britten. London: 1900-1905. 3 volumes, 2 (484 x 319mm). 320 lithographic plates, 3 folding maps. (Occasional light marginal soiling, plates 98, 99, 101, 102, 241 and 242 with small tears or creases and some soiling.) Original cloth-backed boards (stitching broken, light soiling).

The first publication of a substantial selection made from the 738 surviving copper plates engraved under Sir Joseph Banks's direction between 1772 and 1784. The original plates were not published during Banks's lifetime. A small number were printed during the 19th century to illustrate others works (vide Hooker's Flora Antarctica), but the present publication represents the first appearance of most of the images.
