cover 1853 (25 June) long entire letter to Basingstoke, showing superb strike of the Crowned circle "PAID/AT/MONTSERRAT" in red at right with additional strike (a little blurred) at left, rated "4/-" in manuscript; the reverse with very fine "MONTSERRAT" double-arc datestamp across the join; light creasing and small internal tear at lower left not detracting from the appearance of what must be the finest known strike of this very rare marking.
