A pair of Napoleon III ormolu four-light wall appliques
In the Louis XVI Style, After the model by Gouthire, Circa 1870
Each surmounted by tied ribbons, centred by a laurel wreath, above a lyre centred by a rosette surmounted by a female mask, flanked to each side by a pair of ribbon-tied foliate cast branches, above tied ribbons headed by a flower garland with tassle terminals, fitted for electricity

Lot Essay

The original model was made by Gouthire and delivered in 1781 to the Duchesse de Mazarin.

Another copy, made by Henry Dasson, is illustrated in Ottomeyer & Prschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Mnchen, 1986, p.425.

A set of four, unsigned, was sold in these rooms, 26 February 1998, lot 150.
