Details
Chteau Margaux--Vintage 1900
Margaux, 1er cru class. Chteau-bottled
The Jeroboam: Purchased in 1988 by the current owner from a notary in La Napoule and stored in a hillside temperature controlled cellar ever since. Handblown bottle, short punt with some glass bubbles. Original Chteau capsule, with some clear tape attached. Pillet-Will label slightly faded but clearly legible. Level well into neck. The magnum: Slightly bin-soiled Pillet-Will label. Level into neck. The bottle: Recorked by Whitwhams on the 30th October 1981 - Reference 1185. Chteau label with typed vintage. US slip label. Ex Christie's Chicago Sale 10th October 1987 lot 153
Tasting note: 6 notes: perfection. Two bottles at Desai's Margaux tasting, one with original capsule and "Pillet-Will" label, the other with an over-printed label (probably from the cellars at Lafite). Both sound, sweet, soft, rounded. Perfect. Most recently, deep; gentle, restrained; mouth-filling fragrance. M.B.
