[APOLLO 7] Design Layout - Main Display Console, Command Module 101. NAA, 9 February 1967. Approx. 18 x 96 in., folded. A blueprint which fully illustrates over 12 display panels. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY WALLY SCHIRRA with: "Wally Schirra, S/C [SpaceCraft] 101 Cdr" -- Flight Mission Rules, Revision B, Apollo 7. NASA/MSC, 7 August 1968. Defines every conceived preflight and flight contingency with a predetermined action to be taken if the event occurred. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY SCHIRRA on front cover with: "By the Rules!, Wally Schirra, Cdr". His inscription comes from the events of the Apollo 7 launch where surface winds exceeded the rules with a speed and direction that would bring the CM to a land landing in the event of an early launch abort. The block I couches could cause severe crew injury during a land impact. However, "GO" fever ruled the day and launch occurred despite the winds. (2)
