Boucher attracted the recognition of the Paris Academy with the entry of the present model in the Salon of 1886. Entitled Au but! or To the Goal!, the group won a first-class medal as well as critical acclaim. The next year the State commissioned a bronze enlargement for the Luxembourg Gardens.
