A LARGE GURI LACQUER BOX
18th century
Of rectangular form with a lifting domed lid and a removable front panel opening to reveal an interior space above to drawers, worked overall in lacquer deeply carved in repeated lobed c-scrolls, the dark brown lacquer carved away to expose layers of red and black, fitted with cloisonne lock plate, drawer pulls and hinges
13 in. (33.0 cm.) high, 10 in. (26.7 cm.) deep, 16 in. (40.7 cm) wide
