AN INLAID LACQUER TABLE SCREEN

The rectangular two fold screen, enclosed within a lacquer frame decorated with scrolling foliage in low relief, the upper panels inlaid with mother of pearl, ivory, red lacquer and tortoise shell depicting fishermen working near banks of blossoming wysteria and peony; the rectangular lower panels with inset enameled geese feeding amid blossoming lotus; the reverse upper panels with black crows descending onto a blossoming cherry tree above lower panels of inset auspicious symbols surrounded by blossoming flowers, signed on a square mother of pearl cartouch on the lower right
