A NEW YORK STATE CAPITAL ASSEMBLY CHAMBER DESK
Designed by Leopold Eidlitz, manufactured by Weller, Brown and Mesmer, Buffalo, New York, circa 1879
The rectangular top with molded edge above a conforming frame fitted with one drawer having a label inscribed, "COMPLIMENTS OF/Thomas J. Barry/MEMBER OF ASSEMBLY/58 Center Street, New York/1895, the other side fitted with brass "81", on bracket feet, the front with scrolling carved leaves, the rear scroll and leaf-carved above quarter columns with Corinthian capitals, the sides with deep relief-carved foliate medallion and pierced D-shaped side openings with exposed mortise-and-tenon joints
