Each painted in the Romantic style with figures before manses in misty rural landscapes within an octagonal gilt cartouche, the border richly gilt with berried laurel medallions linked by strapwork and arabesques

Lot Essay

Harry Davis was employed at Worcester from 1898 and was known for his work in the style of Corot. He started at the age of thirteen painting the Museum steps and was appointed as Foreman Painter in 1928. He retired from Worcester in 1969, after 71 years.
