Lot Essay

The Flight into Egypt was edited in two sizes by Siot-Decauville. Whereabout now unknown, an example of the larger size was formerly in the Harding Museum, Chicago. The model dates from the same year as Grme painted and exhibited two versions of the subject, one setting the scene in moonlight, the other in daylight.
