A Viennese ormolu and enamel-mounted rosewood secretaire-cabinet
Circa 1880
Inset overall to front, sides and interior with enamel plaques depicting allegorical scenes and classical figures in Arcadian landscapes, with foliate mounts throughout, the upper section surmounted with a balustrade with a Roman figure to each front corner, above a pair of doors opening to reveal an interior fitted with six drawers, the lower section with sloping hinged flap with red velvet-lined writing surface to the reverse, the interior with a recessed compartment flanked to each side by a pair of drawers, above a frieze drawer, on circular turned and tapering legs joined by a stretcher surmounted by a figure, on bun feet

One enamel plaque to the reverse of the right-hand door bears the inscription VOELKER GLCK and one panel to the reverse of the left-hand door has the partially indistinct inscription OEUVRE IDILLE/DE ... & C./S. CESNI.
