As mentioned on the first page, on the occasion of the artist's seventieth birthday, a large group of fellow artists and admirers of Stroebel initiated his portrait to be painted by P. Josselin de Jong, which was to be hung in the municipal museum, The Hague, where it still is today (H. van Hall, Portraits of Dutch painters and other artists in the low countries, specimen of an Iconographie, Amsterdam, 1963, p. 320)
