realistically modelled as a parakeet with raised crest, perched on an oak branch with a foliate capital for a candle or taper, two scroll branches for use as a pen rest, the simulated rockwork base, surmounted by an oval box, the hinged cover inscribed "Alexander Shekleton from his nieces M.M. London? and A.B.Sheckleton, as a token of their gratitude 1873", by J.C.Edington, 1859, (wooden inset base) - 25.5cm high, (minor repair).
