Lot Essay

All of the second volume of the first book of Muenster's Cosmographie was augmented by Belleforest in Paris. It was decorated in three large engraved wood plates: a plan called de la Ville, Cité, Université et Faux-bourgs de Paris, a perspective view of the city of Saint-Denis, a double page and an interior view, also on double page, of the grand'Eglise Saint-Denis.
