Lot Essay

The project for the reunion of the Isle Nostre-Dame with the Isle aus-Vaches, which had been used as a depository for the Port Saint-Paul, for a dueling ground and for pasturage, was entrusted to a certain Sieur Marie, charged also with the building of a bridge and the laying out of streets to be covered with houses. The cornerstone was laid in 1614 by Louis XIII and his mother, Marie de Médicis.
