Lot Essay

Two of the proofs for (6) lithographic posters designed for the Empire Marketing Board, in the collection of University of Guelph, MacDonald Stewart Art Centre, Ontario.
The murals formed the basis for these posters, and they are part of Kerr-Lawson's first and most important commission executed between 1903-1934. More than thirty canvasses were let into wall panels in Louis XV style drawing rooms in Stoke Rochford Hall, the home of Christopher Hatton Turner.
