A large mahogany H frame studio easel, early 20th Century,
the Archimedes screw mechanism with two settings, one for adjusting the shelf height and one for adjusting the pitch; the sides and top with simple arched finials; set on four castors; winding handle -- 82in. (209.5cm.) high when lowered.

Provenance
This easel was owned by Rex Whistler (1905-1944). On his death it passed to his brother Laurence after which it passed to the present owner.
