Two menu cards from the Manchester United v. Red Star Belgrade, dinner, 14th January 1958 held at the Midland Hotel Manchester, both bearing autographs, one with seventeen, including, Scanlon, Foulkes, Taylor, Edwards, Webster, Coleman, Berry, Jones, Charlton, Busby; the other with six of the Red Star team; and eight match programmes, including: Manchester City v. Newcastle United, F.A.Cup final, 7/5/55; Arsenal v. Blackpool, F.A.Charity Shield, 12/10/53; and six Watford programmes from 1954
The two menu cards in this lot relate to the home European Cup tie played by Manchester United against Red Star of Belgrade on 14th January 1958. On 6th Freruary 1958, after having won the tie 5-4 on aggregate, the plane carrying the United team and officials crashed upon take-off from Munich with eventual loss of eight of the 'Busby babes' (10)
