Decorated with neo-classical mounts, the rectangular grey fossil top above a panelled frieze centred with a roundel with an eagle, flanked to each end by classical masks, on square section supports headed with classical female busts, terminating in feet and joined by a plinth base

Lot Essay

The Egyptian-hermed table, in the early 19th century French antique manner relates to furniture supplied by the Jacob firm of rue Meslee. It has served as the sideboard table at Ken Hill since the 1890s. See the photograph of the Dining Room on page 169.
