An 18th century French provincial wine taster,
of good gauge with a plain circular bowl and heavy serpent ring handle, scratched "I.Tridon V.V." below the rim, makers mark struck four times "?L" above a fleur-de-lys, unascribed, possibly southern/south western France *, first half of the 18th century - 8.5cm dia, 4oz.
* This mark is worn, but not disimilar to an unidentified maker B.L. Pau, circa 1735.
