A rosewood cylinder pedestal bureau cabinet, late 19th/early 20th century
Applied with silvered mounts, the superstructure with pierced spindle gallery containing three drawers enclosed by a locking stile with floral scroll brackets ornaments, flanked by re-entrant bevelled mirror panels, the fall enclosing a fitted interior with central pull-out compartment with apsidal interior enclosed by mirrored panelled doors between columns, flanked by pigeon holes and sliding stationery compartments, the lower part of recessed broken outline, with re-entrant angles, inset with panels of tooled brown leather, with sliding section containing a central frieze drawer with arched foliate scroll brackets flanked by five graduated recessed drawers applied with foliate neo classical handles between projecting scrolls to the stiles, on a plinth base, the reverse and sides with moulded panelled decoration, the locks engraved Chubbs Patent, with royal coat of arms 128, Queen Victoria Street, numbered 907353, the locking stiles also engraved Chubbs and Chubb & Sons, Makers to Her Majesty, similarly numbered
