A Victorian Scottish mahogany longcase clock, second quarter 19th century
The hood with swan neck pediment and outset tapering columns, glazed side panels, with moulded onion top to the bowed trunk door, flanked by ringed columns, with moulded panel to the stepped plinth, the 14in. wide arched white dial painted to the spandrels with figures emblematic of the Virtues, the centre with rubbed Falkirk signature and subsidiary date and seconds rings, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 85in. (216cm.) high
