A mahogany longcase clock
The hood with brass rosette capped swan neck pediment flanking a turned wood urn, later blind fret panels, with fluted outset columns and glazed panels to the sides, fluted 3/4 length pilasters flanking the wavy top trunk door, on plinth with line inlay and raised on a later skirting, the 12in. brass cut-away arched dial with eagle and urn spandrels to the brass chapter ring with diamond half hour markers, matted centre with ringed winding holes, subsidiary date aperture and seconds ring, signed on a disc in the arch William Blaikie Edinburgh 1764, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell, with built-up seatboard; probably composite and with case, dial and movement associated, second half 18th century -- 84in. (215cm.) high
