FIRST EDITION "of this remarkable book by Desaguliers, the inventor of the Planetarium. It contains a complete and well illustrated account of the state of physics at the time and includes the first detailed description of Newcomen's steam engine (in vol. II), there is also the first account of a railway, the wooden railway constructed by Ralph Allen, of Bath, to bring stone from the quarries to the waterside" (Dawson). Dawson 1852.
