"Beltrn Obregn has been known basically as a painter. Nevertheless, his work implies a relationship between pictorical illusionism and the photographic image. In this sense, one could understand both the monochromatic nature of a great part of his work and also its serial dimension. If we take rigorously into account his work as a whole, we see that it shares a constant element: its photographic origins. The interest arises in the way in which the photograph of an event impresses upon it a particular perceptive angle which attempts to make it intelligible. When the photographic image is translated into painting, it activates the conventions that this medium employs to relate with the objective world, altering this relationship and even eliminating its conventions..."
