Lot Essay

"His first sculptures combined stones in their natural state with industrial processes like the smeltering of iron and bronze. In this way they harmonised nature and the work of man, the materials found with those preconceptions and transformed intellectually and manually. A short time afterwards, he started working with a special type of stone, the lutita with its strong component of iron which has allowed him to link it to industrial iron, integrating his declarations that reveal the closeness of the components and sometimes revealing the proximity of the components. He occasionally complements them with water in a reference to holy water stoups, funerary monuments or stellar mirrors in an inequivocal allusion to the rituals of prehistoric cultures and to the inexorable passing of time."
