Lot Essay
"Ana Patricia Palacios has installed herself between time and space. Through a richly varied obsession around two central images (the same pot, the same flowers) her painting reveals a repetitive formal and conceptual pattern, articulated in the transcendence of the day-to-day, a day-to-day considered as innocuous and banal. The artist strives to define an archetype of the traditional still life that she revisits, breaking down the code, upsetting the inner order. Yet in questioning painting in this way, there is above all a renewed challenge of a certain order of oneself, the prompting of doubts and certainties, materialized by the confusion between the right and the wrong side of things. There are also the groping and erring procedures of the quest of a guideline, of a truth as spiritual as material, sharpened by distance."
