Lot Essay

"In this decade, Nadn Ospina has been interested by the problematic of cultural super-impositions, in the context of visions of the world that go through simulation and interest for popular expressions as well as by the questions on style and authorship.
To execute his works, he applies figures belonging to the imaginary world created by television and cinema in the First World to replicas of pre-Colombian pieces obtaining different 'styles' belonging to the various indigenous cultures of Colombia and Latin America. With these pieces the visual meaning and cultural values of the different American peoples are put together in a syncretism which creates a spatial and temporal collage which translates into irony: humorous criticism. He looks at the recent theories which try to review Modernity and makes evident the way in which historical processes that are not faced can standardise any hierarchy regardless of its context."
