ROBERT ESTIENNE'S SECOND PRINTED BOOK, previosuly published by Calviat, Rome, 1526, and later issued by Aldus, Venice, 1527 and 1538. Sannazaro was born at Naples in 1458 and died in 1530. This edition of his Neo-Latin poems includes his five surviving piscatory eclogues as well as his masterpiece, De partu Virginis. "It is from this rare Estienne edition that the Aldine, printed three months later, was copied": Schreiber The Estiennes 35; W. & S. p. 188; Petit 1887 (with date misprinted as 1528) -- and 2 other works printed by R.
