The Adoration of the Shepherds

Though little is known about the artist, nephew of the famous Aelbert Cuyp, it is evident from paintings such as the present lot with their strong chiaroscuro effect, that Benjamin Cuyp must have been familiar with Rembrandt's oeuvre of the 1630's.
