An early Charles II salver on foot,
or stand for a porringer, circular with a plain trumpet foot and a plain well centre bordered by a broad rim, embossed with a frieze of piles of assorted fruit and alternating birds and animals, namely a swan, a lion, an eagle or hawk and a galloping horse, pricked under the foot with the initials "S.C" and engraved on the front in the centre with a coat or arms within an assymetrical sail-shaped outline, maker's mark "GS", crozier between, attributed to Gilbert Shepherd * 1663 - 28.5cm dia, 16.5oz.
