An Elizabeth I silver-gilt mounted tigerware or Rhenish jug,
of baluster form with a c-shaped handle, the hinged cover embossed with mask cartouches and fruit below a ring of stylised interlaced ribbons and a tiered knop, the top mount engraved with horizontal bands of strapwork and arabesque scrolls, with a cast thumbpiece in the form of a winged figure with a serpent and a cornucopia, (repairs to hinge), the foot mount gripping the foot with a row of stylised leaves, above an embossed border of sylised ribbons, mirroring the decoration on the cover, fully marked by an unascribed maker, C.C. linked within a shaped punch above a device, 1573 - 22cm high.
