Each with widely flaring sides painted in Ming style on the exterior with foliate scroll repeated in anhua technique on the interior above a mallow blossom painted in underglaze blue in the center, all within double blue line borders

Lot Essay

A similar bowl with Qianlong seal mark was included in the traveling exhibition, For the Imperial Court; Qing Porcelain from the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, December 1997 - July 1998, and illustrated by R. Scott in the catalogue, no. 41, where a Xuande-marked prototype is also illustrated, p. 33, fig. 2.
