Only one other Qing bowl of this unusual design appears to be published. See The Powell-Cotton Collection of Chinese Ceramics, Gordon Lang, The Powell-Cotton Museum, Kent, 1988, p. 42, no. 71. The design may be based on Ming prototypes where the background is relatively plain, emphasizing the striking form and movement of the dragon.
