This bed pattern also relates to the drawings of Robert Adam, many of which were executed by Thomas Chippendale. A related drawing by Adam dated 1772 depicting a bed for Lord Frederick Thynne's Curzon Street house is illustrated in E. Harris, The Furniture of Robert Adam, London, 1963, pl.126. The bed which was part of the celebrated painted suite supplied by Thomas Chippendale for David Garrick's villa in Hampton and acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 1916 also features a similar painted lambrequin tester (see O. Brackett, Thomas Chippendale, London, n.d. (c.1924), pp.266-267).

A similar bed was sold from the estate of the Late Florence H. Crane, Castle Hill, Ipswich, Massachusetts, Parke-Bernet Galleries, Inc., New York, 29-30 June 1950, lot 825. Another, by Gillow, the property of a Gentleman, was offered Christie's London, 16 September 1999, lot 140.
