Lot Essay

This chair is based on a pattern published in Ackermann's Repository in July 1811 which was produced by the cabinet-makers Morgan and Saunders (reproduced in P. Agius, ed., Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, Wiltshire, 1984, p.60, pl.29). An example by Morgan and Saunder's at Trinity College, Oxford (R.
