Each rectangular on four scroll feet with shell, fruit and foliage joins, the gadrooned rim with shells and foliage at intervals, the field engraved with a coat-of-arms and crest within foliate mantling, marked on reverses

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Bewicke impaling those of Wilkinson, as borne by Calverley Bewicke Anderson, of Close House, Northumberland, and of Colby Manor, Yorkshire. He assumed the surname Bewicke in 1815 upon inheriting the estates of his uncle, Calverley Bewicke. Bewicke married Elizabeth Philadelphia, daughter of Thomas Wilkinson, of Coxhoe, Durham.
