A GEORGE III SCOTTISH SILVER TEAPOT AND STAND
Maker's mark of Alexander Gairdner, Edinburgh, 1784
Oval, the body bright-cut engraved with floral swags, each side engraved with an urn over a wreath, one wreath with a crest under a motto, with laurel leaf and beaded borders, with straight spout and wood scroll handle, the hinged flat cover with wood finial; the oval stand on four feet, engraved with similar decoration, crest and motto, marked under base, cover and reverse of stand
The teapot 11in. (28cm.) long over handle; gross weight 26oz. 10dwt. (835gr.)
