A ROMAN MARBLE FUNERARY MONUMENT
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
The upper portion with a bust of a man wearing a pallium within an arched aedicula, supported by pillasters, with rosettes within the spandrels, a triangular pediment above with a central rosette, additional rosettes in the upper corners, inscribed below "L. ARGENNIUS, OVEDVBIVS, MEDIOLANMIL," the right side with armor in low relief below a similar pediment, the left side with a pelta, the traditional shield of the Amazons, also below a pediment, 32 1/2in. (81.25cm.) high
