The stop fluted column surmounted by a winged victory on a circular colonnade raised on a rectangular base cast in shallow relief with military scenes and inscription Das Dankbare Vaterland Dem Siegreichen Heere, on a conforming green marble plinth---17 in. (43cm.) high

This column was erected to commemorate the German defeat of the French in the Franco-Prussian War of 1868-1870.
